West Anglia Routes Group

Harlow Renaissance was a member of the West Anglia Routes Group (WARG), whic is an association with a wide membership, representing public and private sector organisations along this key rail corridor. The group aims to:

"For the benefit of all those who live and work in the London-Stansted-Cambridge-Peterborough Corridor, the West Anglia Routes Group seeks timely upgrades to the West Anglia rail corridor to enhance capacity, improve reliability and promote growth."

To achieve these goals, the Group has regular meetings and undertakes activities to raise the profile of the routes and secure suitable investment. Ongoing priorities include:

  • Getting Government recognition that the West Anglia Routes are a national priority if sustainable growth is to be supported
  • New and more carriages to allow train lengthening and high capacity trains by late 2011, along with funding for lpatform lengthening
  • A Government commitment to 4-tracking along the route, with immediate funding to commence the process of safeguaring, planning and project development

Harlow Renaissance has been keen to ensure that Harlow remians a priority for Stansted Express services and that Harlow's growth plans are factored into future railway investment decisions.
