Clifton Hatch is an important local centre for its neighbourhood in Harlow’s largely residential corridor along Southern Way, but which has seen some decline in recent years. Harlow Council commissioned Harlow Renaissance to bring forward a development which will regenerate the hatch providing improved retail facilities and much needed additional housing for local people. Through the provision of high quality buildings it is intended that the image of the area is improved as well as providing better facilities.
Throughout 2007 and 2008 Harlow Renaissance conducted extensive consultation with local residents to ascertain views on future development and as a result of this outline planning consent was granted in February 2008. In 2009, Moat Homes were selected as the developer to build the project (along with the schemes at Prentice Place and Old Harlow) and further consultation with residents took place on the detailed proposals during 2009/10. Full planning consent was obtained in October 2010 and works will commence in March 2011 with completion of the project in spring 2012.
The full development will now comprise:
It will be delivered by Moat Housing in partnership with PRP Architects and Denne Construction.
