Town Centre Partnership

Harlow Renaissance managed the Town Centre Partnership between 2007 and 2011 to provide leadership and a co-ordinating function. Harlow Renaissance chaired the Partnership Board and also employed two members of staff to deliver partnership activities. The Partnership brings together major landowners in the town centre along with retailers, other business interests and Harlow Council to jointly promote the town centre. It exists to improve the whole town centre for the benefit and enjoyment of local residents, shoppers, businesses and visitors to the town.

During our time managing the Town Centre Partnership it undertook the following initiatives:

  • Christmas light switch on events and Christmas marketing campaigns
  • The Harlow Sheep Trail in the summer of 2009
  • Music events in Market Square
  • Installation of hanging baskets in Broadwalk
  • Craft days in the Harvey Centre
  • May Pole dancing

TCP - Chinese New YearThe Partnership also provided support to many other initiatives such as the Safer Harlow Partnership, Chinese New Year celebrations and the pancake day races as well as acting as an advocate for the town centre businesses.

The Town Centre Partnership moves forward beyond Harlow Renaissance with administrative support being provided by Harlow Council. The Partnership members are in discussion over the potential establishment of a Community Interest Company to provide and independent future for it. Harlow Council has already agreed to transfer the management of Harlow Market to the Town Centre Partnership to provide a sustainable income stream and it is expected that discussions on this will be concluded in the autumn of 2011.
