Window Works seeks an Artist

Window Works is a project devised and run by Harlow Renaissance and Harlow Council to create installations and exhibitions within the window spaces of empty retail units across Harlow Town Centre.

The Town Centre currently has around 25 empty retail units, some of which face external pedestrianised streets whilst others are part of an internal shopping centre.

The number of empty units is primarily due to the time it has taken to select a development partner for the major step-change regeneration of the northern part of the Town Centre.  However, a development partner has now been selected by Harlow Council, and public consultation on the masterplan to transform Harlow into a sub-regional shopping centre will take place between June and September with early 2010 forecast for achieving planning consent. It is expected that the development will take place between 2011 and 2014.

The Window Works project is now seeking expressions of interest from artists interested in working on a design scheme for empty units across the whole of the Town Centre. The new project will involve an artist developing new commissions for several of the larger empty retail units as well as developing a design scheme for the northern part of the Town Centre.
