Promoting Harlow

Latest Update

Harlow – see something different Branding Campaign

Harlow Renaissance is working with Harlow Council, Harlow 2020, and town-wide businesses and organisations to update perceptions on Harlow and to promote the town as the informed choice to live, work, invest and visit.

“Harlow – see something different” will draw attention to the numerous leisure, sport, arts and retail facilities which already exist across the town, with an emphasis on its enviable sculpture collection and cultural opportunities. It will also highlight the changes that the town is looking forward to with the exciting growth and regeneration agenda, including the forthcoming LeisureZone, the neighbourhood renewal schemes and the redevelopment of Town Centre North.

A new brand mark and toolkit has been produced which set out the aims and objectives for the campaign. At its heart is the essence that the creation of a brand is more than just a logo – it is the image and reputation that we want associated with the town both today and tomorrow.

It will seek to:

  • Raise the profile of Harlow within the East of England in order for us to compete across the region for a share of the area’s economic growth, investment and people – including future residents, employees and visitors
  • To clearly communicate what the town has to offer today and what it aspires to be in the future
  • To develop a brand that will send out one compelling, joined-up and consistent message about Harlow
  • To drive the vision for Harlow by building upon its cultural heritage, its scientific past and present, and its architectural background
  • To constructively address negative perceptions with informed knowledge
  • To facilitate a demonstrable change of image for the town

Immediate activities will include a reprinting of the popular “Explore Harlow” leaflet, promotion of the town as “Sculpture Town” and a relaunch of the VisitHarlow website. Over the summer Harlow Renaissance worked with Essex County Council and the artist Matt Cook on the Open Space project “Play Harlow!” which used a large art installation as a gameboard to bring play, adventure and discovery to the streets of Harlow.

The partnership will also be working with a number of business organisations across the East of England on an active Inward Investment campaign to help promote Harlow as a place to invest and develop businesses in.

As the home of fibre optic cable, with one of the largest urban parks in the country and award winning housing projects, Harlow is a confident and contemporary town with a clear vision and “can-do” attitude. We and all our partners intend to ensure more people experience the pride, vision and opportunities that Harlow has to offer.
