About Us

Harlow Renaissance Ltd was founded in 2006 by Harlow Council, Essex County Council, EEDA and English Partnerships (later becoming the Homes and Communities Agency). The company began operations in April 2007 following the recruitment of a staff team. The role of the company was to deliver some regeneration projects in the short term whilst helping to pave the way for the longer term growth of Harlow. We identified six themes of activity designed to achieve change and which were designed to complement each other:

  • Housing
  • Transport and Infrastructure
  • Town Centre Renewal
  • Enterprise
  • Education
  • Image and Branding

Within these six themes we delivered a range of projects that have helped to shape the future of Harlow. Some of the results of this can be seen now and some will continue to have an impact for years to come:

  • Development of plans to regenerate the northern part of Harlow Town Centre
  • Delivery of three neighbourhood renewal projects for Harlow Council under the Growth Area Fund programme
  • Delivery of the Harlow Enterprise Hub, providing small business workspace
  • Management of the sub-regional Programme of Development aimed at delivering housing and economic growth, also funded through the government’s Growth Area Fund
  • Development of Inward Investment and branding campaigns for Harlow
  • Management of Harlow’s Town Centre Partnership
  • Support to Harlow Council on its Priority Estates programme and other regeneration initiatives
  • Lobbying for transport investment and the delivery of some research activities designed to increase Harlow’s future transportation service
  • Development of bold thinking on the future direction of Harlow and the structure of its planning framework

Details on all of this, and more besides, can be found in the Projects section of this website. Further details can also be found within the Business Plans produced during our lifetime and which can be accessed on this page.
